Mr Woo Hoh arrived in Singapore in 1940 from Guangzhou, China. With knowledge acquired under the tutelage of a soya sauce master, and with the support and encouragement of friends, he set up Kwong Woh Hing Sauce Factory near Kallang Gasworks in 1943. Since then, his soya sauce has drawn a loyal group of customers who followed the company’s move from its first factory in Kallang to Tai Seng, and then to Defu Industrial Park in 1985.

Because of the long fermentation period needed and limited production space, Kwong Who Hing cannot mass-produce the sauce, which make the product very precious here in Singapore.

About a century ago, Mr Choo Cheong Chan left China and set foot in Singapore in search of better opportunities. He set up the first Kwong Cheong Thye in Jalan Sultan, manufacturing soya sauce for food suppliers.

From the manufacturing of Light and Dark Soya Sauce, Kwong Cheong Thye has expanded into the manufacturing and trading of other sauces such as Chilli Sauce, Hot Sweet & Sour Bean paste, Hoi Sin Sauce, Sesame Oil, Oyster Sauce, Plum Sauce, Orange Sauce and much more. Some of their products include Noodles, Mooncakes and “Yusheng” (Raw Fish Salad), which is a popular dish for Chinese families during the Lunar New Year period.

Kwong Cheong Thye has been continually innovating and improving. With a rich tradition and vast experience in food manufacturing in Singapore, its products are now used by over 90% of the top hotels and restaurants in Singapore and widely distributed in more than 10 countries.
